Unlock your child’s creativity this summer at the Johnson Center for the Arts! Our 2026 Summer Art Explosion invites young artists (ages 7–12) to embark on A Journey to New Worlds—a month-long creative experience inspired by four iconic stories: Alice in Wonderland, The Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan, and James and the Giant Peach. From June 1–26, each week becomes a new adventure, where campers explore imaginative worlds through theater, movement, visual arts, and hands-on creative play. 

Registration Information:
Registration is in person Tuesday through Friday 10AM - 5PM at our center, 300 E Walnut St, Troy, AL 36081. This program is made possible through the generous support of the Alabama State Council on the Arts and the Chapman Foundation, helping keep the arts accessible to all. Spots are limited—join us for a summer of creativity, storytelling, and adventure.

Four Stories. Four Adventures. One Unforgettable Summer.
Each week is themed around a new story, giving students the opportunity to step into different worlds and bring them to life through creativity and performance. 

Hands-On Creative Exploration
Campers will engage in interactive art-making, storytelling, games, and collaborative projects designed to build confidence and spark imagination. 

Weekly Friday Performances
Every Friday, students will showcase what they’ve created in a live performance open to the public. Families are encouraged to attend and celebrate their artist’s work. 

Program Details: Dates: June 1–26 

Ages: 7–12 

Morning Session: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM 

Afternoon Session: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM 

All-Day Option Available (please pack a lunch and snacks) 

Pricing: $40 per week (morning or afternoon) $80 for a full day
