Approach: Creative Dramatics and Introduction of Theatre Skill Building; (Growth is the goal; Laying the foundation of skills; healthy opportunities and environment for social interaction; creative expression; social emotional learning)

Ages 7-10 will focus primarily on more general goals and concepts, emphasizing intuition and impulse development, creative play, improvisation, storytelling, creative movement, music, collaborative projects, engagement and social interaction, and hands-on stage crafts activities. The goal here is exposure, creative expression, collaboration, and involvement in the arts.

Ages 11-14 will focus more on specific goals and more structured learning, with emphasis on introductory theatre and performance skills and using tools of expression such as vocal projection in singing or speaking, rehearsal of scripted scenes and monologues, body awareness and movement, original writing, portrayal of characters, and hands-on design and technical theatre stagecraft activities. Other social emotional learning includes refining choice-making, problem-solving, healthy socialization, and confidence and connection through communication. We will approach the beginnings of a creative/production process, but a production or show is not the overall goal.

Showcase: The semester will end with a short dramatic presentation.
